The story where it all began

Around 1830, dogs from the royal kennels at Compiègne were bred by crossing an English Pointer with a French pointer. The breed took its name from Saint-Germain-en-Laye, where it became well known. It was the most shown pointing breed at the early French dog shows, and its club was founded in 1913.123
