Coat and looks how to spot one

soft, medium-length, wavy to curly

A small dog with a real teddy-bear look: round, soft face, long ears and a fluffy coat that ranges from wavy to curly. The coat sheds very little, but it keeps growing and needs regular attention.21

Personality what they are like

Cheerful, loving and loyal. Cavapoochons are clever and generally easy to train, which makes them a friendly choice for first-time owners. Since three breeds are in the mix, each dog's personality can lean towards any of them.21

Daily activity how busy a day looks

Moderate: about 30 to 60 minutes a day of walks and play is enough.21

Grooming and care the hands-on bits

One of the higher-maintenance small coats: brush several times a week to prevent mats and plan a professional groom every few weeks (sources suggest from fortnightly to every eight weeks). Keep the long ears clean and dry.21

Home where they are happiest

Its small size suits apartments and smaller homes well. Does best with people who are home for much of the day.21

Food basics what goes in the bowl

A complete small-breed food, kibble alone or mixed with wet food. Some can be picky eaters, so ask your vet for guidance on amounts and changes.12

Company who they like around

Very family-focused, great with children and usually friendly with other animals when socialised early.21

The story where it all began

Breeders in the United States began developing the Cavapoochon in the early 2000s, aiming for a small, soft-coated, teddy-bear-like companion that sheds little. Most are about half Poodle, with the other half split between Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Bichon Frise.12
