ColoursFrosty (ermine / frosted pearl)12

Personality what they are like

A gentle, calm rabbit that is easy to handle and tends to form close bonds with the people who handle it regularly; ARBA describes it as a loving breed.32

Daily activity how busy a day looks

Give it daily exercise outside its enclosure to hop, explore and play.4

Grooming and care the hands-on bits

Brush weekly, and about twice a week during moults.3

Home where they are happiest

The RSPCA recommends a living area of at least 3 m x 2 m x 1 m high so a rabbit can hop, stretch, hide and play; a hutch alone is not enough and should be combined with a large run or daily free-roam time. Everbreed suggests keeping it in about 10-21 C (50-70 F) with shelter from wind, rain and sun.43

Food basics what goes in the bowl

Mainly hay, with quality pellets, some leafy greens and constant fresh water.34

Company who they like around

Rabbits are a highly social species and the RSPCA advises keeping them with at least one compatible, neutered rabbit companion, plus calm, regular time with people.4

The story where it all began

The Czech Frosty was developed in Czechoslovakia in the early 1950s and later accepted into the German (1991) and European (1995) standards. Don Havlicek brought the first ones to North America in 2013 and worked toward recognition, which ARBA granted in 2022.213
